DESCRIPTION:There are numerous Masses throughout the day at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion – the normal Shrine Mass is at 11:30am.  There is a “Children’s Mass” at 9:30am for families and individuals who are participating in the Walk with the Children.  There is a Mass at 2:00pm (not a Sunday vigil Mass)\, 3:30pm with Bishop David Ricken\, 4:00pm and 5:30pm.  The 3:30pm\, 4:00pm and 5:30pm Mass count as your regular Sunday obligation. \nMass is held on the grounds of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion and is available to all the pilgrims who participated in the Walk to Mary and any family members who would like to attend. \nThe 3:30pm Mass has a sign language interpreter assisting the hearing-impaired individuals. The 3:30pm Mass is in English with some readings in Spanish.

Following Mary’s crowning\, be sure to participate in the National Shrine’s traditional rosary procession around its grounds! \nMay Crowning Mass – 11:30 am \nRosary Procession – Following Mass \n____________________________________ \nInformation on the May Crowning Tradition:\n“May Crowning” is a Catholic devotion that occurs in the month of May\, recognizing recognizes Mary as Queen of heaven and earth. As May is considered the season of the beginning of new life\, we participate in Mary’s crowning to recognize her role in Our Lord lifting us out of the long\, cold days of winter and firmly planting our hearts in the warm and promising soil of spring. \nThe act of crowning is attributing a queen symbol to Mary\, the mother of our Lord\, Jesus Christ. The event is of particular significance as it relates to the National Shrine’s history. When Our Lady appeared in 1859 to the young Belgian immigrant woman\, Adele Brise\, she identified herself as the “Queen of Heaven.” \n
